Rainforest mobile web testing FAQ
Rainforest Mobile Web testing allows you to test the functionality of your website as configured for a mobile device. Rainforest supports both Android and iOS mobile web testing.
Did I select the right browsers?
Once enabled for your account, create a test and select the appropriate test type as that dictates the platforms that will be available. In this case, select 'Desktop/Mobile Web' test type. The mobile web browsers can then be selected from the Feature Level, Run Group Level, or test level when running an individual or multiple tests dynamically. The platform options are displayed in this modal.
Should I run the same test simultaneously on both Mobile and Desktop Browsers?
The answer is that it depends on your app. If your mobile site functions exactly like or very similar to your main app, you should be able to reuse your test for mobile and desktop browsers without any problems.
If however, your mobile web's UI differs significantly from your desktop browser's UI, you will want to have an independent suite of tests (separate Feature or Run Group) to cover this particular version of your app. This is because the tester will have to interact with your mobile site differently than on the desktop version, and the test instructions may not accurately describe the exact actions the tester is to perform. This is a common cause of failures in these kinds of situations.
If you find that you can reuse part of an existing test in your new mobile test, we recommend duplicating the test or copying steps over to the new test.
