Troubleshooting red banners reading "Can't connect to the VM"

When trying to preview a test in Rainforest, a common error that is seen is a red banner reading "Can't connect to the VM" which either appears automatically or after clicking the "I understand" button to acknowledge tester rules. This error can occur for a number of reasons including:

  • Missing a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Certificate
  • Not trusting a SSL Cert used by Rainforest
  • Interference from a recently installed firewall or antivirus software
