Executing Rainforest Automation tests is done similarly to executing traditional Rainforest tests.

When executing tests, Rainforest will limit the execution options to those that are applicable to the tests being run within the Filter, Run Group or the single test selected.

Automation tests may alway be run by the crowd if you so choose, instead of by Rainforest Automation.

Selection is done via the Run this test with pulldown option

Available Options

  • Rainforest Automation + Crowd
Available if tests are a mix of Automated and non-automated tests.
Will intelligently execute those tests that are fully automated via Rainforest Automation (do not have any Plain Language steps) and others via the Rainforest Crowd.
  • Rainforest Automation
Executes ALL the tests via Rainforest Automation.
Available only if ALL tests are written in RFA and do not have any Plain Language Steps.
  • Rainforest Tester Community
    Executed by the Rainforest Crowd.
    Available for any test.
  • On-Prem Crowd
    Executed by your own crowd.
    Available for any test.
Please know this must be enabled for your account.

You may also start the runs via the Rainforest CLI with the following commands.

  • Rainforest Automation + Crowd
    rainforest run --run-group <run group number> --crowd automation_and_crowd
  • Rainforest Automation
rainforest run --run-group <run group number> --crowd automation
Note: this will only work properly if ALL tests are written in RFA and do not have any Plain Language Steps.
  • Rainforest Tester Community
rainforest run --run-group <run group number> --crowd default
  • On-Prem Crowd
    rainforest run --run-group <run group number> --crowd on_premise_crowd
Note: This will only work properly if you do have on-premise crowd enabled
