The Rainforest In-App Quotes Indicator will provide users with the context on how testers will interpret the text in quotes and evaluate content on the page accordingly.
When a user includes quotes in their step content, a note below the step will appear which displays exactly what content the testers will match to the letter.
If the quoted content is a word such as “View Details”, a message will appear below the step content that will read:
"Please Note: the testers will enter or match the text “View Details” exactly as it is presented within the quotes. If you don’t require an exact match, remove the quotes.”
If there are multiple quoted content, for example: please look for “View Details”, then are you redirected to “Additional Details” title on the page, then the displayed message would be:
“Please Note: the testers will enter or match the text “View Details” and “Additional Details” exactly as they are presented within the quotes. If you don’t require an exact match, remove the quotes.
There is one exception to the text-in-quote rule. If you see ("_") in the instructions, it is meant to be a placeholder for what you will see on the test. Testers will not report this. If the quoted content includes an underscore (“_”), a message will appear below the step content that reads:
“Please Note: the testers will enter or match the text "Showing (_) of (_)” exactly as they are presented within the quotes, and they will allow anything in the place of the underscore placeholder. If you don’t require an exact match for the text, or you do not want them to accept variable content, adjust the quotes.”
- (e.g. if the question asks: Do you see a message that says "Results (_)" ? and you see Results (15), then tester will answer Yes.
Final Note: ( ' ) and ( " ) symbols are both considered in quotes rule so you can use either symbol interchangeably when writing tests.
