Human Powered Testing

Overview

In addition to automated testing, Rainforest offers a set of human-powered testing services for teams that need real people involved in their quality process. These services cover different scenarios — from leveraging Rainforest's global tester network, to using your own internal team, to testing native mobile applications.

Tester Community

The Tester Community is Rainforest's global network of trained human testers who execute your Plain-Text Editor tests on demand. When you run a test using the Tester Community, real people follow your test steps exactly as written and report back results, screenshots, and failure details. For accounts with additional security requirements, optional measures are available including malware scanning on tester machines, two-factor authentication enforcement, and custom NDAs.

On-Prem Testing

On-Prem testing lets you run Plain-Text Editor tests using your own internal testers instead of Rainforest's crowd. Your team members execute the test steps directly, using the same virtual machines and platforms available through Rainforest. Results are captured and stored in Rainforest the same way they would be for any other run.

Mobile App Testing

Rainforest only supports testing of native iOS and Android phone and tablet applications using humans, not with automation. Mobile app tests are created and managed separately from web tests since they use a different starting point — rather than a URL to navigate to, you provide the source Rainforest uses to access and install the application on the virtual device.
