How to Create and Manage a Feature
Learn how to add, rename, and delete a feature.
Overview
Rainforest Features allows you to organize and view coverage progress by function or workflow. Begin by creating a feature. Once a feature is created, you can add your tests.
Creating a Feature
- Click the Tests icon (paper) in the navigation bar, then select Features on the top navigation.
- On the Features page, click the New Feature button.
- Type in the feature name.
- Click the Create button.
Feature names should be unique and reflect your application’s structure.
Renaming a Feature
- Click the Tests icon (paper) in the navigation bar, then select Features on the top navigation.
- Select the feature you want to update.
- Click the Rename Feature icon (pencil).
- Make your changes.
- Click the Save button.
Deleting a Feature
- Click the Tests icon (paper) in the navigation bar, then select Features on the top navigation.
- Select the feature you want to delete.
- Click the Delete Feature icon (trash can).
- In the modal, click the Delete button. This action cannot be undone.
Note: Deleting a feature doesn’t delete the tests.
Adding Tests from the All Tests Page
- On the *Tests page, click the checkboxes for the tests you want to add.
- Click the Add to Feature option in the Bulk Actions dropdown.
- Select the feature from the modal.
- Click the Move button.
Note: Though you can add disabled tests to a feature, they won’t run until you enable them.
Adding Filters to a Feature
Move tests that are grouped in a saved filter to a feature.
- Go to the Tests page in the navigation bar, then select Tests.
- Use the Filter button to view a filtered view of your tests.
- Click the checkbox at the top to select all tests.
- Click the Add to Feature option in the Bulk Actions menu.
- Select the appropriate feature from the modal.
- Click the Add button.
Adding or Removing a Test in a Feature
- Navigate to the individual test.
- Click the Settings icon (gear).
- To add a test to a feature, select the feature from the Features dropdown.
- To remove a test, click the “X” from the dropdown.
- Close the Settings page.
